Downey Osborne is delighted to be partnering with a well-established independent accountancy practice in South Dublin to recruit a General Practice Senior Manager.

This is a particularly exciting opportunity for an experienced practice professional looking for a genuine pathway to Partner.

The firm is partner-led, with a strong focus on long-term client relationships and providing a personal, high-quality service. You will play a key role in managing a varied portfolio of clients, overseeing the delivery of accounts and advisory work, developing junior team members and working closely with the Partners on the continued growth of the practice.

For the right person, this role offers the opportunity to progress towards Partnership rather than simply moving into another management position.

About You

  • Qualified accountant with significant practice experience

  • Strong experience managing a portfolio of clients

  • Extensive accounts preparation and review experience

  • Strong knowledge of corporate and personal tax

  • Experience managing and developing junior team members

  • Confident dealing directly with business owners and senior stakeholders

  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen

  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Comfortable taking ownership of client relationships and assignments

  • Ambitious and motivated to progress towards Partnership

  • Able to demonstrate a genuine interest in the growth and development of a practice

About Your New Role

Always:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients

  • Oversee the preparation and review of accounts

  • Manage client deadlines and ensure high-quality delivery

  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients

  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships

  • Provide technical accounting and commercial advice

  • Work closely with Partners on key client matters

Often:

  • Review accounts and financial statements prepared by the wider team

  • Advise clients across accounting, tax and wider business matters

  • Support and mentor junior and newly qualified team members

  • Attend client meetings and lead client discussions

  • Identify opportunities to improve client service and develop existing relationships

  • Assist Partners with the management and growth of the practice

Occasionally:

  • Take the lead on advisory and project-based assignments

  • Support business development and new client acquisition

  • Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of the practice

  • Represent the practice at client and networking events

  • Take on increasing Partner-level responsibility as part of the progression pathway

Never:

  • Be expected to put client relationships second to ticking a box.

  • Be expected to explain why buying a Ferrari is not necessarily a business expense.
