Downey Osborne is delighted to be partnering with a well-established independent accountancy practice in South Dublin to recruit a Senior Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to join a partner-led practice where they can take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients and gain broad exposure across accounts, tax and advisory work.

The role would suit someone who enjoys the variety of practice and wants to work closely with Partners, clients and business owners in a hands-on environment.

About You

  • Qualified accountant with relevant practice experience

  • Strong experience preparing accounts for a range of clients

  • Good knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting

  • Experience across personal and corporate tax desirable

  • Confident managing a portfolio of clients

  • Comfortable dealing directly with business owners and senior stakeholders

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to manage competing deadlines and prioritise effectively

  • Proactive approach with the ability to work independently

  • Keen to develop within an independent practice environment

About Your New Role

Always:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors

  • Prepare and review accounts and financial statements

  • Manage client deadlines and ensure work is completed accurately

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships

  • Deal with day-to-day client queries

  • Provide practical accounting support and advice

Often:

  • Prepare and review management accounts

  • Assist with corporate and personal tax compliance

  • Liaise directly with business owners and senior client contacts

  • Review work completed by junior members of the team

  • Work closely with Partners on client assignments

  • Identify issues and opportunities within client accounts

Occasionally:

  • Assist with advisory and project-based assignments

  • Attend client meetings alongside Partners

  • Support new client onboarding

  • Assist with business development and networking activity

  • Contribute to improvements across the practice

Never:

  • Be expected to explain to a client why their dog is listed as a business expense.

  • expected to compromise on accuracy or client service.
