Downey Osborne is delighted to be recruiting a Tax Associate on behalf of a leading international law firm in Dublin.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified lawyer or accountant to join a growing and highly regarded tax team. The role offers exposure to a broad range of complex domestic and international tax matters, with opportunities to work across financial services, corporate transactions, investment structures, cross-border tax planning and other commercial projects.

Working closely with experienced senior tax professionals, you will provide technical advice to a diverse client base while continuing to develop your expertise within a collaborative, progressive and internationally focused environment.

About You:

  • Qualified lawyer or accountant with up to four years of post-qualification experience

  • Completed, or currently working towards, the Chartered Tax Adviser qualification

  • Previous experience working within tax in a recognised law firm, accountancy practice or professional services environment

  • Financial services tax experience would be advantageous but is not essential

  • Strong tax technical knowledge and a genuine interest in developing your expertise

  • Excellent written, drafting and communication skills

  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team

  • A calm and considered approach when managing complex or time-sensitive matters

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work

About Your New Role:

Always:

  • Support senior tax professionals in advising domestic and international clients on a broad range of tax matters

  • Provide tax advice in relation to financial and commercial transactions

  • Assist with technical research, analysis and the preparation of tax advice

  • Work directly with clients and collaborate with colleagues across different specialist areas

  • Develop a strong understanding of relevant tax legislation, regulations and market developments

  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues, senior stakeholders and clients

Often:

  • Provide support across areas such as corporate tax, investment structures, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions and other complex commercial matters

  • Assist with the preparation and review of technical documents, client advice and transaction-related materials

  • Work alongside other specialist teams to provide integrated and commercially focused advice

  • Participate in ongoing technical training, mentoring and professional development

  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the wider tax team

Occasionally:

  • Support internal initiatives, technical updates and knowledge-sharing sessions

  • Take part in professional networking events, industry seminars and continuing professional development activities

  • Contribute to wider business initiatives and collaborative projects across the organisation

  • Become involved in employee-led committees, social initiatives or workplace programmes

Never:

  • Feeling micromanaged, as you will be trusted and empowered to take ownership of your work

  • Being asked to explain why pigeons always look like they are late for a meeting
