Payroll Clerk - 12 Month FTC– Belfast – £30,000 (16201)
Downey Osborne is working with a well-established organisation to recruit a Payroll Clerk on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is central to the finance team, supporting accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, and assisting with reporting, compliance, and employee queries.

About You
1–3 years’ experience in payroll or finance administration
Confident using payroll systems, Sage, and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
Good understanding of payroll principles, wage laws, and taxation
Able to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
About Your Role
Always
Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time
Collect, review, and verify employee timesheets and payroll data
Maintain payroll records, employee files, and related documentation
Prepare payroll summaries, journal entries, and cost reports for accounting
Respond to employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies promptly
Often
Support payroll on-boarding for new starters, including tax forms and exemptions
Update absence, holiday leave, and hours tracking
Communicate payroll deadlines and updates to employees
Assist with internal and external payroll audits
Occasionally
Support year-end payroll activities including P60 preparation
Contribute to improvements in payroll processes and documentation
Assist with reporting or special payroll-related projects
Never
Process payroll with errors or without verification
Decode ancient treasure maps to find lost receipts.
