Downey Osborne is working in partnership with a well-established, multi-sector manufacturing and engineering group to recruit a Newly Qualified Management Accountant to join their finance team based in Bangor.

This is a great opportunity for a recently qualified accountant looking to step into a commercially focused industry role, gaining broad exposure across management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering within a hands-on environment.

About You

  • Recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or exam qualififed

  • Recently trained in practice or industry

  • Strong understanding of management accounting and financial reporting

  • Experience with month-end processes, reporting and reconciliations

  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to manage deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across departments

About Your New Role

Always:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and key financial reports

  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and ensure integrity of financial data

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes

  • Deliver accurate reporting to support business decision-making

  • Maintain strong financial controls and reporting standards

Often:

  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles

  • Carry out variance analysis and provide commentary on performance

  • Partner with operational teams to provide financial insight

  • Assist with improvements to reporting processes and controls

  • Support VAT and other compliance-related reporting requirements

Occasionally:

  • Assist with statutory reporting requirements where needed

  • Contribute to system and process improvements, including ERP developments

  • Support external audits and information requests

  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and project work

  • Build strong working relationships across the wider business

Never:

  • Leave a variance unexplained and hope it goes unnoticed

  • Bring pineapple pizza to a team lunch and expect universal support.
