Downey Osborne is delighted to be working with a well-established accountancy practice that is seeking a Graduate Trainee Accountant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated graduate who is keen to begin their accountancy career and work towards full professional qualification with comprehensive support throughout their training contract.

About You:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification).

  • Strong desire to train towards becoming a qualified accountant (ACCA).

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.

  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to balance work and study commitments.

About Your New Role:

As a Trainee Accountant within a general practice environment, you will gain valuable, well-rounded experience across all areas of accountancy. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with clients, develop technical skills, and build a strong foundation for your professional career.

Always:

  • Produce accurate work within deadlines, demonstrating high attention to detail.

  • Maintain professionalism when dealing with clients and colleagues.

  • Take responsibility for learning and progressing through your studies.

  • Uphold confidentiality and integrity in all financial matters.

Often:

  • Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

  • Assist in the preparation of tax computations and VAT returns.

  • Support audit and assurance work under supervision.

  • Liaise with clients to gather information and resolve queries.

Occasionally:

  • Assist with payroll processing and reconciliations.

  • Attend client meetings alongside senior staff.

  • Contribute to internal projects or process improvements.

Never:

  • Be limited to one area of accountancy, this role offers exposure to every service line within practice.

  • Never have to wash your bosses car.
