Assistant Accountant - Belfast - £35,000 - £40,000

Downey Osborne is working with a well-respected company that’s seeking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to strengthen its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a key finance role across two Belfast sites, working closely with senior management in a supportive and forward-looking environment.

About You

• Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)

• Strong accounting experience, in fast-paced sector

• Commercially minded with excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills

• Payroll experience essential

• Strong internal control awareness with the ability to build effective relationships across teams

Your Responsibilities

Always:

• Prepare and review weekly revenue and payroll forecasts

• Take a leading role in the month-end process, including reconciliations, lead schedules, and variance analysis

• Manage income audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness

• Ensure financial controls and procedures are robust, sustainable, and up to date

Often:

• Review costs and implement processes to identify savings

• Champion weekly/daily meetings with Heads of Department

• Act as a key advisor to the Financial Controller and General Manager

Occasionally:

• Liaise with auditors and support with internal audit reviews, ensuring corrective actions are agreed and implemented

• Contribute to process improvement projects and the introduction of more effective ways of working

• Manage debt collection to ensure timely payments
