Tax Manager - Greater Belfast - £50,000 - £65,000 (30621)
Downey Osborne are partnering with a well-established organisation to appoint a Tax Manager into their in-house finance team. This is a broad, commercially focused role within a small tax function, reporting to the Group Head of Tax and working closely with another Tax Manager.
The role offers exposure across a wide range of UK and Irish tax matters, covering both compliance and reporting, with involvement in advisory and project-based work within a collaborative group environment.

About You
You will be a qualified tax or accountancy professional (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent) with strong experience in UK tax, particularly corporate tax and tax reporting.
Experience managing tax compliance and reporting processes
Strong understanding of UK corporation tax; Irish tax exposure an advantage
Background in practice, industry, or both
Confidence working with finance and wider business stakeholders
Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities effectively
Exposure to VAT, employment taxes or broader tax governance would be beneficial, along with an interest in process improvement and tax systems.
About Your New Role
Always
Prepare and review tax provisions and disclosures for financial reporting
Manage UK and Irish corporation tax compliance and filings
Ensure accurate and timely tax submissions and payments
Support external audit processes on tax matters
Liaise with tax authorities on routine compliance queries
Work closely with the wider finance and tax team on core deliverables
Often
Support VAT compliance and transactional VAT reviews
Assist with employment tax matters including PAYE and IR35
Contribute to R&D tax credit claims with internal and external stakeholders
Provide practical tax input to internal teams
Maintain and improve tax processes, controls and documentation
Occasionally
Assist with wider tax projects and cross-functional initiatives
Support research into legislative and regulatory updates
Contribute to process improvement and tax technology initiatives
Get involved in broader tax areas such as capital allowances or transfer pricing
Never
Work in isolation without collaboration across the business
Treat VAT returns as a personality test or attempt to solve them purely through optimism and strong coffee
