Downey Osborne is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing accountancy firm to recruit a Senior Management Accountant into their Outsourcing department. This is a fully remote opportunity offering the best of both worlds. About You

  • ACA or ACCA qualified,

  • Solid background in producing and reviewing management accounts

  • Sound knowledge of core finance operations including bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, and balance sheet management

  • Experience supervising finance processes and supporting junior team members

  • Commercially focused with the ability to translate financial data into clear insight

  • Self-motivated, well organised, and effective in a fully remote environment

About Your Role

Always

  • Own the preparation and review of monthly management accounts, covering P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow

  • Deliver meaningful variance analysis and financial insight to aid management decision-making

  • Ensure financial controls, policies, and records are robust and consistently applied

  • Provide ongoing financial support and insight to the Managing Director

  • Operate as a senior finance presence across the wider business

Often

  • Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and forward-looking financial models

  • Oversee daily finance activity including bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Identify opportunities to enhance finance systems, reporting, and workflows alongside the wider team

  • Act as a key contact for external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other stakeholders

  • Contribute to business planning, prioritisation, and operational improvement

Occasionally

  • Assist with year-end accounting and related processes

  • Support the rollout of new systems, procedures, or business initiatives

  • Input into resourcing decisions, process refinement, and operational projects

Never

  • Forget the commercial context behind the figures

  • Start a turf war with the office cactus
