Management Accountant - Carrickfergus- £45,000 - £52,000 (15340)

We’re representing a well-established client in the manufacturing sector who is seeking a skilled Management Accountant on a 6 month fixed-term contract to support the finance team.

About You

  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or part-qualified with at least 3 years’ relevant experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a finance role in a business with turnover above £20m

  • Strong knowledge of finance principles, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and project/investment analysis

  • Excellent analytical, Excel and IT skills, with experience of financial software (Sage desirable)

  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff and coordinating team responsibilities

  • Strong communication, planning, and commercial awareness

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (desirable)

Your Responsibilities

Always:

  • Assist the Finance Manager in preparing monthly and year-end management accounts, quarterly reporting packs, and budgets/forecasts

  • Take responsibility for selected Balance Sheet reconciliations and ledger maintenance (AR/AP)

  • Provide analysis and insights on variances, trends, raw material inventory, costs, and financial performance

  • Support audits and ensure timely, accurate financial submissions

  • Supervise and coordinate finance team duties, ensuring adherence to company policies, systems, and procedures

  • Assist with preparation and review of the Annual Business Plan, investment appraisals, and post-implementation project reviews

  • Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure correct depreciation and reporting

Often:

  • Work closely with manufacturing, materials, sales, and other departments to provide financial insight, produce forecasts, and monitor profitability

  • Analyse cost models including raw materials, production costs, overheads, and pricing performance

  • Assist with AP and AR processes and take sole responsibility where required

  • Participate in 5S, Continuous Improvement Programmes, and information-sharing initiatives

Occasionally:

  • Support ad hoc projects, reporting, or system implementations

  • Liaise with external auditors or other regulatory bodies

Never:

  • Miss an opportunity to share your ideas
