Financial Controller-Belfast - £50,000 - £60,000

Downey Osborne is delighted to present a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Controller on a 9+ month fixed-term contract with a leading manufacturing business.   About You

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 1/2 years’ post-qualification experience

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or operational finance environment

  • Confident in managing reporting for a local site while liaising with global teams

  • Technically strong across month-end processes, forecasting, budgeting, and cost accounting

  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence and lead across departments

  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, fast-paced environment

  Your New Role

  Always

  • Manage month-end close and prepare financial and operational reporting packs

  • Produce and analyse variances against budgets, forecasts, and prior year results

  • Maintain accounting controls and ensure compliance with group policies and statutory requirements

  • Oversee preparation of monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and sales reporting

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes for the site

  Often

  • Act as finance lead for internal and external audits, including year-end audit file preparation

  • Provide commercial insight and analysis to senior leadership teams

  • Support capital expenditure tracking, reporting, and forecasting

  Occasionally

  • Participate in cross-functional projects or ad-hoc strategic initiatives

  • Prepare mid-month flash figures for sales and EBITDA

  • Assist with system improvements and streamlining reporting processes

  Never

  • Struggle to get the numbers you need – systems and processes are well-established and supported by an experienced team.

  • Be roped into a lunchtime five-a-side if your idea of cardio is walking to the kettle
