Accounts Assistant - Maghera- Up to £35,000 (22202)

Downey Osborne is partnering with a growing organisation to recruit an Accounts Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive finance team and work closely with the Financial Controller across a broad range of day-to-day accounting activities.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the finance function, gaining exposure to reconciliations, month-end processes, cashflow, VAT, and financial reporting. This role offers excellent scope to develop your skills and progress your career within a growing business.

About You

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar role

  • At least 12 to 18 months of relevant accounting experience

  • Experience with purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations

  • Exposure to month-end processes would be advantageous

  • Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail

  • Confident using Excel and accounting systems

  • Experience using Xero would be advantageous

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider finance team

About Your New Role

Always

  • Process purchase and sales ledger transactions.

  • Maintain accurate financial records.

  • Complete bank and account reconciliations.

  • Support the day-to-day finance function.

  • Assist the Financial Controller as required.

Often

  • Process supplier payments and support credit control activities.

  • Assist with cashflow monitoring and reporting.

  • Support payroll administration and liaise with external providers.

  • Assist with month-end processes and journal postings.

  • Prepare account reconciliations and support accruals.

  • Assist with management accounts and financial reporting.

  • Support VAT returns and maintain relevant documentation.

Occasionally

  • Support audit and year-end processes.

  • Prepare financial schedules and reports.

  • Assist with finance projects and process improvements.

  • Provide additional support across the wider finance team.

Never

  • Compromise accuracy or attention to detail.

  • Trust a spreadsheet that has been “quickly updated” by five different people.

  • Avoid dancing in the rain unless you feel like it
